Thoroughly wet your hair and scalp with warm (not hot) water. Pour about a quarter-sized amount of shampoo into your hands (use more or less depending on your hair), add a little water, and rub your hands together to create a creamy lather. Gently massage it into your scalp with your fingertips—not your nails—then work the suds down through the rest of your hair. While it’s lathered, you can lightly detangle big knots with your fingers. Rinse everything out well with warm water, then finish with a quick cool rinse to help smooth your hair.
